Do I leave the existing strainer on top of the tank?
YES. This will stop mozzies from entering your tank and the Chris Screen is designed to sit over your existing tank strainer.
How does the Micron filter mat work?
The filter mat sits on top of your existing 400 mm strainer in your tank.  The 100 micron filter mat will stop the fine sediment entering your tank.
How often should I change the filter mats over?
Should change over after rain.
I have more than one downpipe going into my tank inlet strainer. How does this work with the Chris Screen?
With 2 downpipes, you need to elbow them both and have them facing each other from opposite directions to flow across the screen towards each other. You must use the elbows to slow the speed of water so the water has time to be cut into the mesh. The elbow needs to sit on the edge of the Chris Screen to flow across. This is how the screen cleans itself. Best to check this when raining to get the best results.
Do I need to screw the Chris Screen onto the inlet strainer?
NO. The Chris Screen sits on top of existing strainer, it has an inside and outside edge which holds it in place, therefore there is no need for screwing into place.
I have an old tank and the present strainer is not much good, what is the best thing to do to fit the Chris Screen?
If the old tank has a hole size of 365 to 380 mm, put in a new 400 mm strainer and then fit the Chris Screen on top of this.
Why do you need to alter the position of the downpipe if it comes straight down onto the screen?
The dome shape works best with the water flowing across the screen from the elbow. The elbow slows the water flow down and it will wash the rubbish off as it works its way over the screen and the mesh cuts the water into the tank.
How much water will not enter our tank in heavy rain?
The stainless steel mesh on the Chris Screen will cut the water into the tank. When the strainer is overflowing you may lose some water, but the Chris Screen will not clog up with rubbish and stop the water altogether as would happen if rubbish collected in the strainer and was not cleaned out.
Can I purchase the Chris Screens locally?
